Obituary of Sotiraq Tanko

Webster, MA/Sarasota, FL - Sotiraq (Sam) Tanko, 70, died peacefully at home with his family by his side on Friday, October 31 in Sarasota, FL. He leaves his devoted wife of 45 years, Cleo P.(Pappas)Tanko and three children, Arthur S. Tanko of E. Norwalk, CT, Jennifer Segal and her husband Jeffrey of Glastonbury, CT, and Adeana Osika and her husband Edward of Sarasota, FL. He leaves two sisters, Viola Floru and her husband Steve of North Smithfield, RI and Virginia DiDonato of Dudley, MA. Four grandchildren, Alexis and Sammy Segal, and Arianna and Jonathan Osika. Several aunts, nieces, nephews and many friends. He was born in Dudley, MA, the son of the late Arthur(Nasi)and Andronika(Ziu)Tanko. Mr. Tanko worked construction and at Wyman-Gordon in Worcester, MA. Sam loved the sport of horse racing and shared his skill of handicapping. Sam cared deeply for his family and friends and was always there to lend a hand to those in need. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, November 4, with a service at 10am at Saints Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church, 37 Lake Parkway, Webster. Burial will follow at Hope Cemetery, Worcester. Calling hours will be held on Monday from 5 to 8 pm at Bartel Funeral Home, 33 Schofield Ave., Dudley. A Trisagion service with the Very Reverend Father, Emmanuel Clapsis will be held on Monday at 7pm at Bartel Funeral Home.
