Dudley - Bernard S. Wilga, 87, of 21 Oakwood Ave, died Wednesday, December 24 in St.Vincent Hospital Worcester after a long illness.
He leaves his wife of 65 years, Dorothy (Johnson) Wilga. one son: Dean Wilga and his wife Kathy of Thompson, CT . Two daughters: Donna DeArmond and her husband Peter of Putnam, CT . and Linda Johnson and her husband Louis of South Dennis, MA
Three brothers: Paul Wilga of Dudley , Gerald Wilga of Thompson and Raymond Wilga of Harwich.
Five grandchildren, Glenn and Danny Wilga; Peter and Laurie DeArmond; and Heidi Cassidy; Three great grandchildren Haley,Nick and Emily. Several. nieces and nephews,
Predeceased by a brother, Robert Wilga of Dudley.
He was born in Webster, MA, the son of the late Stanley and the late Eva (Budrow ) Wilga. Mr. Wilga proudly served in the Marine Corps during WWII . After the war and returning from over seas he began a long career at Boston Gas working as a service technician retiring in 1979.
Bernard lived in Quinebaug Ct. for 25 years coming to Dudley in 1980. He was a member of the VFW Post 6055 in Southbridge. He was a member of the WWII National Museum in New Orleans and a supporter of the memorial brick program.
Funeral services will be private from Bartel Funeral Home & Chapel, 33 Schofield Ave., Dudley. Burial will be in the Elmvale Cemetery, Woodstock. Calling hours were private .
