Dudley - Pauline (Smolen) Wajer, 97, of 5 Delaney Ave, died peacefully Tuesday, March 24th at The Inn at Sprucewood, Durham, NH. Her husband of 51 years, Robert G. Wajer Sr. a partner of the former Wajer's Express Co. Died in 1991
She leaves one son: Thomas Wajer and his wife JoAnne Wajer of Franklin, MA
2 granddaughters: Kristin and her husband Pete Hopkins of Lee, NH and Great Grandchildren, Alex, Sydney, and Megan. Heather Wajer of San Francisco, CA and Great Grandson, Griffin.
Predeceased by Son, Robert J. Wajer Jr.
Pauline was born in Coraopolis, PA. On March 31, 1911, the daughter of the late Frank and Anna (Czajka) Smolen. The family moved to Charlton, MA where Pauline graduated from Charlton High School in 1929. After High School she worked as a Payroll Clerk for several years at the American Optical, retiring in 1943 to raise her family.
Mrs. Wajer was an active member of the United Cerebral Palsy Association, and an Adult Education volunteer teaching English/Polish to new residents who emigrated from Poland. Mrs. Wajer was also a communicant of St. Andrew Bobola Church and member of the Holy Rosary Sodality.
Her funeral will be held Wednesday, April 1 with a Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Andrew Bobola Church, 54 West Main St., Dudley. MA. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Garden Of Peace Cemetery, Webster, MA Calling hours will be Wednesday morning from 8:30 to 9:30 AM at Bartel Funeral Home & Chapel, 33 Schofield Ave., Dudley. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to the United Cerebral Palsy Association at 71 Arsenal St. Watertown, MA 02472. The ALS Association, Massachusetts Chapter at 320 Norwood Park South, 2nd Floor Norwood, MA 02062. The Alzheimer's Association, Massachusetts Chapter at 311 Arsenal St. Watertown, MA 02472 or a Charity of Choice.
