Obituary of Eugene Vigeant

Dudley - Eugene L. Vigeant, 94, of 16 Ziemba Rd, died peacefully Wednesday, June 24 at his home. His wife of 70 years, Ceceilia V.(Degnan) Vigeant died in 2006. He leaves three daughters: Susan Fitts and her husband Robert of Southbridge, Jeanne Kubilis of Worcester and Emma Kapurch of Webster. Seven grandchildren Jan, Don, Kori, Shelly, Stephen, Sue and Jennifer. Also leaves 10 great grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Several nieces, nephews and caregivers. He was born in Southbridge, MA, the son of the late Eugene and the late Lydia (Leblanc) Vigeant. He worked all his life in the construction as a builder and master mason. In 1964 Eugene and his wife purchased a motel in Penobscot Bay Maine and ran it together for five years before returning to Dudley in 1969 . Gene was an avid bird watcher and loved the Red Sox. He enjoyed a good card game and was still playing and winning at the age of 94 . Funeral services and calling hours were private on Friday, June 26 in Bartel Funeral Home & Chapel, 33 Schofield Ave., Dudley. Burial was in St. Rochs Cemetery, Oxford.
