Dudley - Howard "Rocky" Darling, 61, died Monday, October 19 in Harrington Memorial Hospital, Southbridge after being stricken ill at home. Rocky enjoyed hunting and riding his motorcycle. He Loved watching his boys play baseball and football. He coached both in Little League and DWC Indians.
Loving husband of 39 years to Susan (Rohr) Darling devoted father and grandfather to
two sons: Wayne Darling and his wife Tammie of Dudley and Michael Darling and his wife Kristyne of Shrewsbury. Four grandchildren, Kayla Darling and Adam Darling of Dudley, Peyton Darling and Marissa Darling of Shrewsbury. His mother Evangeline (Barrette) Darling of Millbury. His sibling
three sisters: Sheila Kelley of Dudley, Nancy Chauvin of Dudley, Rosanna Desrosiers of Southbridge and brother: James Darling of Plainville, CT . His Uncle and good friend, Larry Darling of Dudley. Many nieces nephews and friends. Predeceased by father, Howard Darling Brother, Kevin Darling
He was born in Worcester and lived all his life in Dudley . He graduated from Bartlett High School class of 1966. He served in the Marine Corps from 1966 to 1969 a Veteran of the Vietnam War serving in the 3rd Marine Division He worked at A.J. Letourneau as a Heavy Equipment Operator for the past 4 � years. Previously he was a truck driver for Frito Lay , Chauvin Excavating and several years at the A. O. in Southbridge and was a member of Fire Brigade.
He played Semipro football for the Webster Colonials . Rocky was the State Truck Driving Champion in 1997 four Axle Category and participated in the National Championship in Minnesota.
He was a lifetime member of the VFW in Southbridge.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 24 at 10 AM in the First Congregational Church Of Dudley, 135 Center Rd., Dudley. After cremation burial at a later date. Calling hours will be held on Friday from 4 to 8 PM at Bartel Funeral Home & Chapel, 33 Schofield Ave., Dudley .
