Dudley - Alexander J. Millette, 100, of 398 Dresser Hill Rd., died Thursday, March 18 in Harrington Memorial Hospital, Southbridge after a short illness.
He leaves his wife of 67 years, Rose A.(Grasso) Millette. Two sons John Millette of Dudley and George Millette and his wife Patty of Dudley. Three daughters: Rose Monteiro and her husband Tony of Worcester, Alice LeBouef and her husband Willie of Warren and Annie Salmon and her husband Tony of Warren. Three sisters: Bernadette Albani ,Theresa Kench and Doris Bruneau all of Webster.
4 grandchildren Tony, Stephanie, Britney and Maxwell . 3 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews
He was born in Dudley, MA, the son of the late Zotec and Mary Louise (Dupre) Millette and lived here for more than a hundred years.
He graduated with High Honors from the Randolph School for the Deaf in 1928 . He excelled in Base Ball and Football. For his outstanding play he was known as" Alexander the Great " and would continue his amateur career playing Semi pro ball in the Textile Leagues that were popular in the 1930's in Worcester county. Alexander was a farmer and worked for the Town of Dudley . He was a polisher for 33 years at the American Optical Plant in Southbridge. He enjoyed many years of retirement and was proud to turn 100 last year and be at his own home with his loving family.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated SATURDAY MARCH 27 at 11 AM in St. Stephens Church, Corner Of Route 197 & 131, Quinebaug Ct. Please omit flowers donations may be made to Dudley Firefighters Association, 128 West Main St., Dudley, MA 01571 for their outstanding EMS service .
