Webster - Veronica Catherine (Walsh) Schremser, 90, died peacefully Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at Oakwood Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Webster, MA. She was surrounded by her loving family, the music that she loved, and the caring and empathetic staff of Oakwood Nursing Home.
She was the wife of 52 years to the late Eugene Louis Schremser. She leaves 2 sons; Dennis Schremser and Duane Schremser both of Dudley, MA;3 daughters, Ruth Ann Williamson of St. Louis, MO, Diane Kuszewski and Suzanne Vasale both of Webster, MA; 2 sisters, Emma Kalland of TN and Josephine Healy of CT; 11 grandchildren several great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Veronica was born in Brooklyn, NY, the daughter of the late Joseph and Irene (Connelly) Walsh. She settled in Webster in 1946 residing at Killdeer Island for over 50 years. Veronica worked at several local companies and retired from Automatic Rolls of New England in 1986.
She was a past member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Webster and a member of the Killdeer Island Club.
Veronica was of indomitable spirit, great humor and a generous heart. She met her husband through war time correspondence excerpts of which were published and are now in the Missouri Historical Museum and the National Archives in Washington DC.
Memorial service will be held Thursday, August 9 at 11 AM in Zion Lutheran Church, 70 Main St., Oxford. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery in Webster. There are no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Patients Activity Fund at Oakwood Nursing Center 11 Pontiac Ave. Webster, MA. 01570 or to Sol Amor Hospice 15 Midstate Dr. Auburn, MA 01501. Bartel Funeral Home & Chapel 33 Schofield Avenue is directing arrangements.
