Obituary of Charles E. Dwyer

Webster - Charles E. Dwyer, 89 died peacefully Friday, Oct. 26 in Overlook Masonic Health Center, Charlton. His wife of 59 years, June E. (Spahl) Dwyer, passed in 2007. He leaves three daughters: Kathleen Bolduc of Newport, RI, Jane D. Carrington of Putnam, CT, Mary E. Hegarty and her husband Patrick of Arlington, MA, three sons: John Dwyer of San Diego, Timothy C. Dwyer and his wife Karen of East Lyme, CT, Chuck Dwyer and his wife Kathy of Medway. Three sisters: Helen Groblewski of Webster, Betty Ann Quinn and Maureen Martin both of Dudley. A loving grandfather to ten grandchildren, Hannah Bolduc McKenna and Chuck Bolduc, Dialynn, Amberlena, Gwynna, and Quinn Dwyer, Dominic Hegarty and Brennan, Matthew and Adam Dwyer. Predeceased by two brothers Richard and William Dwyer and a sister, Dorothy Groblewski. He was born in Webster, MA, the son of the late Richard J. and Helen (Deary) Dwyer. He was raised in Dudley and lived in Webster for 50 years before moving to Overlook Community in 2007. He graduated from Bartlett High School. Charlie enlisted in the U. S. Navy to serve his Country shortly after Pearl Harbor. He served in the Pacific area with the 108th Bomber Squadron and flew in and around Peleliu, Guam, Tinian and Iwo Jima on dozens of missions aboard a B-24 Liberator and PB-4Y aircraft. He was an aviation radioman first class and was a recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross. He was a member of the Machine Printers & Engravers of USA. He worked for 45 years at Cranston Print Works retiring as Print Room Supervisor in 1984. Mr. Dwyer was a member of St. Louis Church and enjoyed volunteer work for the parish. A former member of Knights of Columbus counsel 228. His funeral will be held Monday Oct. 29 from Bartel Funeral Home & Chapel, 33 Schofield Ave., Dudley, with a Mass at 10 AM in St. Louis Church, 14 Lake St., Webster. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Webster. Calling hours will be on Sunday from 4 to 7 PM at the funeral home.
