JACK HUQ - 69,of Webster MA died peacefully in the presence of his family on Jan 23,2014 at UMass Medical Center Lake Ave Campus in Worcester and was fighting till the end. His love of Life and the Lord exceeded any his family has ever known. His optimism and courage helped them carry on through his difficult days. On Thursday, it was God's Will that his faithful servant, Jack, come home to be with Him in His Kingdom.Born in Dacca,Bangladesh son of AKM Irmanul Huq and Monowara Begum, he was one of thirteen children.He leaves 2 sons, Joseph,Webster MA, daughter-in-law Kiki and grandson Brian of Hamburg,Germany. Also, Martin, who was his caregiver and constant companion for the past 2 ½ years, and fiancée Mary Brady of Lowell,MA. Survived by former wife, Martha (Wajer)Putnam, DudleyMA and brother-in-law Roman Wajer and his wife Lori of Woodstock,CT. In the US, brother Erfanul and family of Springfield,Ma and sister Gulshanara and family of New York City. In Bangladesh, he is survived by sisters Jahanara,Shawkatara,and Anjumanara, and brothers,Imamul,Imdadul,Imaul, and Irshadul. Pre-deceased by sisters Roshanara, Delwara and brother,Ehsanul. At an early age, Jack aspired to travel and see the world. Following studies at Dacca University,he moved to London. There he trained in fashion design and worked as a furrier for the famous Arthur Kramer Ltd. Married to Martha at the Westminster Cathedral, London and finally moved to Dudley with wife and infant son Joseph in 1971. Jack joined in-laws, Roman and Cecelia Wajer's trucking business, Wajer's Express. He ended his working career at Johnson Corrugated,Thompson CT retiring in 2009. Remembering also his many nieces and nephews, in recent years, he was delighted to have nephew Shaheen and family of Wethersfield CT in the area, and visits from nephew Mamoon,whenever on international travel. As well as wonderful family gatherings at brother Kobe's in Springfield,and grateful for the timeless friendship of Dulal and China Talukdar's family of Medford MA. Among Jack's hobbies, were long-distance marathon running, tennis, world travel & history, love of singing and dancing, cooking, a love for animals including his dog companions Troy and Suzie, fan of the NE Patriots and World Cup Soccer. The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to the entire staff at Umass Lake Ave and ACC who always diligently cared for and compassionately treated Jack's Multiple Myeloma. In particular,the warm, family like efforts of Dr. Rajneesh Nath, Dr. Ishwara Sharma, Dr. Vijay Kasturi, Dr. Jan Cerny, PA-Lindsey S., Chemo Nurse Tina Henry, Marci Landry, Dr. Reidy & Father Sheehan and the entire Palliative Care Team, Dr.Zahraa Hajjiiri, the 8th Floor transplant unit, 6th Floor ICU, 7West, and Whittier Rehab Westboro. On the homefront, many thanks to Tri Valley,Southern Worc County VNA and personal nurse, Helen Nyangori , who made his final months at home so comforting, as well as to Reiki specialist, Del Bachand and natural healer Laura Creedon. Funeral will be held on Saturday February 1,2014 at Bartel Funeral Home 33 Schofield Ave Dudley with calling hours 9:30-10:30am followed by funeral Mass at 11:00AM St.Joseph Basilica 53 Whitcomb St. Webster burial to follow in St. Joseph Garden of Peace . In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to the Bone Marrow Transplant Program in Jack's memory , make check payable to UMMF-Nath-Bone Marrow Transplant Program or to benefit the lunch served to patients undergoing chemo make check payable to UMMF-Cancer Center Patient Lunch Fund, mailed to UMASS Medicine Development Office 333 South St. Shrewsbury MA 01545.
