Bernard Gaboury, Sr., Apr. 24, 1928 - Feb. 10, 2014 Bernard "Ben" Gaboury, Sr., 85 of Sarasota, FL, was born in Webster, MA and was predeceased by his parents, Martha and Hector and his beloved wife of 51 years, Barbara. Ben was a WWII Navy veteran during which he practiced and taught his passion for boxing. Fighting under the name Irish Pat Scanlon, he was inducted into the New England Boxing Hall of Fame in 1986. He also spent many active years involved with the Eagles, VFW, Elks, Boy Scouts and Golf. A humorous and fun-loving guy, Ben took special pride in his family. He is survived by his son Ben, Jr, (Susan), grandchildren Matthew and Sarah, sisters Sylvia Bernier and Lorraine Ducharme, and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday May 17th at 10 AM in St. Anthony of Padua Church 24 Dudley Hill Rd. Dudley . Burial will follow in Sacred Heart of Jesus Cemetery Webster. The Webster -Dudley Veterans Council will provide Military Honors at the graveside . Memorial donations may be made to Tidewell Hospice, 5955 Rand Blvd, Sarasota, FL 34238.
