Kathleen Mary Army, 68, of Dudley passed away Tuesday, April 29th in Worcester, MA following a long illness. She is survived by her devoted children, daughter, Patricia M. St.Marie and her husband Jonathan, with whom she lived, son, Joseph J. McKeon (Clinton, MA), and their father James J. McKeon (Beaver Cove, ME), her sisters, Patricia D. Army (Westmont, IL), Mary Jane Dinsdale and her husband Brian (Oxford, MA), and Elizabeth F. Jones (Orlando, FL). Kathleen is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, US Marine PFC Brian J. Perreault, Gabriella M. St.Marie, Hannah G. St.Marie and Nathan M. St.Marie, and several much loved nieces, nephews and aunts. Kathleen was predeceased by her brothers, Francis Xavier (1946) and Capt. Denis V. Army (2000).
Kathleen was born May 25, 1945 in Chelsea, MA, the daughter of the late Vincent T. Army and Mary Jane R. Parath. She was a 1963 graduate of Sacred Heart High School in Springfield, MA. Before raising her family, Kathleen worked for the New England Telephone Company. After her children were grown, she worked as an insurance agent and tax consultant. Kathleen also spent more than ten years caring for young adults with special needs prior to her retirement in 2008. Kathy enjoyed yearly vacations to Ocean Park, Maine (a sixth generation tradition), eating lobster, playing Scrabble, reading, and trips to the Casino to play bingo with anyone willing to bring her.
The family would like to thank the many members of the healthcare community who cared for Kathy over the last several years, including South County Dialysis Center, K's Ambulance Service, the VNA, and Drs. Grabias, Vakil and Maki. Additionally, we would like to extend our gratitude to her many PCAs, especially Pam, Cindy, Kym, Bob, and Jill.
The funeral will be held Tuesday, May 6, from Bartel Funeral Home & Chapel, 33 Schofield Ave, Dudley, MA with a Mass at 10 AM at Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main St., Worcester, MA. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. Visiting Hours will be Monday, May 5, from 5 to 7 PM at the funeral home.
