Obituary of Thomas E. Lovejoy

Dudley- Thomas E. Lovejoy, 71, died Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at St. Vincent Hospital surrounded by those whom he held dear. Tom was born in Columbus, OH. He was the son of the late Ernest and the late Ruth (Watrous) Lovejoy. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Sandra (Maciejewski) Lovejoy; his daughter Patricia and her husband Kevin Wells of Oxford, MA; his son Scott Lovejoy and his wife Karen of Dudley; two granddaughters Nicole Ross of Oxford, and Sara Lovejoy of Dudley; his sister-in-law, Kathy Maciejewski of Dudley and his brother in-law Gary Maciejewski and his wife, Linda of Quinebaug, CT. He also leaves two sisters, Joan Guerard and her husband Edmund of Lunenburg, MA, and Sandra Kittredge and her husband Wally of Spencer, MA; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He was predeceased by his beloved grandson, Kenny Ross. He joined the US Navy in 1962 and proudly served 3 years in the US Navy Reserves.He was a steel worker for many years, retiring from Crowley Construction of Oxford in 1987.He was raised in Oxford and has lived in Dudley for the past 35 years. Tom loved playing his daily lottery numbers at Park N Shop, camping, fishing, traveling, music, playing cards with best friends, spending time with his grandchildren, the beach and making everybody's day a little better. A memorial service will be held 10:00 am on Wednesday, August 10 at The First Baptist Church of North Oxford, 693 Main St., North Oxford, MA 01537. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Corbin Cemetery Dudley. Calling hours will be Tuesday, August 9 from 7 to 9 PM at Bartel Funeral Home, 33 Schofield Avenue, Dudley. In lieu of flowers, donations to may be made to the Oxford Ecumenical Council, PO Box 448, North Oxford, MA 01537 in support of the local food shelf.
