Obituary of Louis P Kozlowski

Louis P. Kozlowski, 89, of Dudley passed away peacefully, with his wife at his side, on Wednesday July 21, 2021 at Overlook Masonic Health Center of Charlton, MA. He leaves his wife, Shirley (Filipski) Kozlowski; his son, Kerry Kozlowski of Woodstock, CT; his daughter: Nancy Wilcox and her husband Doug of Ft. Myers, FL; two granddaughters, Janel Fink and her husband Zach of Seattle, WA and Derin Dietz and her husband Ian of Mons, Belgium; and three great-granddaughters: Marlie and Nora Dietz, and Ada Fink. He was born January 31, 1932 in Dudley, MA, the son of Peter and Sophie (Kokernak) Kozlowski. He married Shirley Filipski on July 16, 1955, and was able to celebrate their 66th wedding anniversary with her at Overlook, just before his passing. Louie was a builder and talented carpenter, working as a contractor and Clerk of Works for many years. He served as a health agent for the Dudley Board of Health for 20 years. He built a house on Marsh Road for his family in 1969 and lived in it until his death. He could always be found fixing or improving something in it. His favorite past-time was enjoying vacations on the Falmouth Shore, Cape Cod, and in the Berkshires. He adored his three great-granddaughters and was known to crawl on the floor to play with them even in his late 80s. He loved swimming in pools, sitting outside with his wife on the porch, and playing chess. He will be deeply missed by his family. Louis’ family is deeply indebted to the wonderful staff at Overlook Masonic Post Acute Rehabilitation Center, who treated him with great care, love, and dignity in his last days. There are no services at this time. A memorial service will be held at a later date, with his beloved wife, once she passes.
