Obituary of Theresa C. Wolak

Theresa Claudia (Asselin) Wolak, 83 of Southbridge, MA passed away on June 15, 2023 surrounded by her family that cherished her. She was an angel on earth and now is an angel in heaven. Theresa was the daughter of the late George and the late Yvette (Vertue) Asselin. She was born in Windsor Mills, Canada and moved with her family to the U.S. when she was a teenager. She graduated from Bartlett high school in Webster, MA where she met her future husband, John (Jack) Wolak. Affectionately known as the Matriarch by her family, she was a devoted caregiver who never let the adversity she faced bring her down or dampen her joyful spirit. When her sons were growing up, Theresa was always at every sporting or school event and she continued this commitment with her grandchildren. Theresa had a gift for putting others at ease and she could strike up a conversation with anyone she met. She touched so many people in positive ways and will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all that knew her. She is survived by her sons; Michael and his wife Jane of Laconia NH, John and his wife Renee of Webster, MA and Donny and his wife Maria of Northbridge MA along with her grandsons; Steven and his wife Lisa of Kent, CT, Matthew of Hudson, NH and Julian of Northbridge MA. She is also survived by her sisters; Pauline Huguenin and her husband, Roger and Diane Germain of Webster and Nicole Rybacki of North Grosvenordale. She was predeceased by her husband, Jack and her son, David and her brothers; Gerry and Andre Asselin. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Theresa's family from 9:30am to 11:00am followed by a memorial service on Saturday, June 24, 2023 at Bartel Funeral Home, 33 Schofield Ave, Dudley, MA. Burial will be immediately following at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Old Worcester Rd, Webster, MA The family would like to thank the amazing nursing staff at UMASS Hospital that provided such wonderful care to Theresa.
